Essential Job Duties
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTES:
- Prepare and teach assigned welding courses, in accordance with the Master Course Outline and in consultation with a full-time faculty member. Teaching assignments are based on college needs and include day, evening, weekend, and on or off campus assignments.

- Gas Metal Arc Welding
- TIG Welding
- Structural Welding
- Pipe Welding
- Automotive Welding
- Agricultural Welding
- Utilize best practices for teaching, engaging and motivating students to succeed.
- Meet the class times as required by the quarterly schedule and assist students as needed with questions related to the course(s) being taught.
- Demonstrate, teach and enforce proper lab techniques and safe work habits and safety rules in the labs.
- Utilize Canvas, the learning management system at BBCC, to provide students access to course materials and the course gradebook.
- Support students academic success by maintaining regular office hours(s). Refer students to appropriate college resources as needed.
- Foster a flexible, healthy learning environment with respect for student diversity. Adapt a variety of teaching situations including diverse student abilities and preparedness.
- Maintain positive and effective communications with students and coworkers.
- Maintain and submit grades and attendance reports to college personnel when required. Post Syllabi quarterly to the Big Bend Portal for each course taught.
- Maintain student course materials for two (2) quarters beyond the quarter of attendance.
- Submit assessment data in consultation with a full-time faculty member in the department.
- Assist with development, selection, and/or recommend selection of instructional materials for courses being taught.
- An associate's degree in Welding or a relevant field and three years of professional experience. Work experience and/or industry recognized certification may be considered in lieu of the education requirement at the discretion of the college.
- Experience working with individuals from diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, ability, and ethnic backgrounds.
- Experience teaching at a community college. .
- Experience implementing innovative teaching/training methods and strategies to improve student/trainee success and retention.
- Experience with online learning, hybrid courses, video conferencing, and learning management systems (LMS).
- Bilingual English/Spanish proficiency.
