Why This Internship Is Different

This isn’t just another entry‑level data entry role. You’ll step into a high‑impact, part‑time internship that blends real‑world business challenges with academic learning. Working directly with the Manager of Publishing Finance & Operations, you’ll contribute to critical functions that keep arenaflex’s publishing pipeline running smoothly – from weekly print runs to inventory optimization and cost‑of‑goods analysis. If you love turning numbers into narratives and thrive in a fast‑paced environment, this opportunity is designed for you.

Role Overview – Planning & Operations Analytics Intern

As a Planning & Operations Analytics Intern at arenaflex, you will support the Sales, Metadata Management, and Operations teams by delivering actionable insights, maintaining key financial reports, and helping to fine‑tune the logistics that bring our titles to market. This remote, work‑from‑home position offers flexibility while providing a comprehensive glimpse into the inner workings of a global publishing powerhouse.

Key Responsibilities

  • Industry Trend Reporting: Research, compile, and present weekly and monthly trend reports for senior leadership, highlighting sales patterns, market shifts, and emerging opportunities.
  • Print‑Run Coordination: Assist the Production Planning team in managing the weekly print‑run schedule, ensuring the right titles are printed in the correct quantities and delivered on time.
  • COGS Summary Preparation: Generate Cost‑of‑Goods‑Sold (COGS) summaries, compare forecasted versus actual costs, and flag variances for strategic decision‑making.
  • Inventory Optimization: Partner with the Planning organization to analyze inventory levels, sales velocity, and stock‑out risks, recommending adjustments to maintain optimal stock balances.
  • Metadata Enhancement: Lead projects to improve title and contributor metadata (author, artist, illustrator) to maximize discoverability and retailer performance.
  • Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Communicate findings and recommendations across Sales, Finance, Marketing, and Operations teams, fostering a data‑centric culture.
  • Ad‑hoc Analysis: Respond to urgent data requests, perform deep‑dive analyses, and develop visual dashboards using Excel, Power BI, or similar tools.

Essential Qualifications & Skills

  • Strong Communication: Excellent written and verbal abilities to convey complex data insights clearly to non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Analytical Mindset: Comfortable working with large datasets, performing statistical analysis, and drawing logical conclusions.
  • Detail‑Oriented Organization: Meticulous attention to detail, ensuring data accuracy and consistency across reports.
  • Project Management Ability: Proven capacity to juggle multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet tight deadlines in a collaborative environment.
  • Technical Proficiency: Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, macros) and familiarity with data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, or similar) are essential.

Preferred (But Not Required) Qualifications

  • Passion for comics, graphic novels, or entertainment publishing – a genuine interest in arenaflex’s content universe.
  • Experience with SQL, Python, or R for data extraction and manipulation.
  • Previous internship or work experience in finance, supply chain, or publishing operations.
  • Knowledge of inventory management concepts such as safety stock, turnover ratios, and demand forecasting.

Educational Requirements

You must be currently enrolled in an accredited university or have graduated within the past six months, pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Business Analytics, Finance, Supply Chain Management, Data Science, Economics, or a closely related field. Junior or senior standing is preferred, though exceptional candidates at any level are encouraged to apply.

Eligibility & Program Details

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Enrollment in a regular academic term (spring or fall) or recent graduation (within 6 months).
  • Eligibility to work in the United States with no restrictions.
  • Not have completed more than 365 days of continuous service with an arenaflex internship program.
  • Flexible remote work schedule – you can work from home, a co‑working space, or a combination that fits your lifestyle.

Compensation & Benefits

The position offers an hourly wage ranging from $25‑$35 per hour, commensurate with experience and academic standing. In addition to competitive pay, arenaflex provides a comprehensive benefits package for eligible interns, which may include:

  • Access to virtual health and wellness resources.
  • Professional development workshops, webinars, and mentorship programs.
  • Opportunities to participate in company‑wide volunteer initiatives (arenaflex VoluntEARS).
  • Discounts on arenaflex merchandise, theme‑park tickets, and partner services.
  • Potential for future full‑time employment based on performance and business needs.

Learning & Development Opportunities

At arenaflex, we believe learning never stops. As an intern you will receive:

  • Mentorship: One‑on‑one guidance from senior analysts and managers.
  • Skill‑Building Sessions: Training in advanced Excel, data visualization, and industry‑specific analytics techniques.
  • Cross‑Department Exposure: Rotational projects that let you experience finance, supply chain, marketing, and product development.
  • Networking Events: Virtual meet‑ups with other interns, alumni, and senior leaders.
