Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer/CNC Programmer - Swiss Type Lathe Reporting To: Ldr., Mfg. Engrg. Tech. Work Schedule: Onsite – Buffalo, NY Our Military Aircraft Group is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer/CNC Swiss Type Lathe Programmer to join our Small Parts Manufacturing Group in East Aurora, NY. As a Manufacturing Engineer/CNC Swiss Type Lathe Programmer, you’ll be at the forefront of both new product development and continuous improvement of existing manufacturing processes. You’ll work hands-on with Swiss type lathe parts, applying advanced CNC programming and machining knowledge to solve challenges and optimize performance. As a Manufacturing Engineer/CNC Programmer, you will: Develop and optimize CNC Swiss Type Lathe machining processes for both new and legacy components. Create detailed CNC programs and manufacturing instructions that meet rigorous engineering specifications. Define operation sequences, tooling, gauging, and machine requirements for precision part fabrication. Troubleshoot shop floor issues, including tooling, gauging, workholding, and inspection challenges. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve manufacturing problems and enhance producibility. Create detailed operation sheets and NC programs to produce high-precision machined parts and sub-assemblies. Review engineering drawings for manufacturability and recommend design improvements. Assist in the creation of machine-ready code and be hands-on in the production environment, assisting with program prove-outs and troubleshooting. Estimate setup/run times and tooling hours; contribute to cost estimation for new business proposals. Mentor junior engineers and lead continuous improvement initiatives in processes and equipment. To be considered for this role, here’s what you’ll typically bring with you: A Bachelor’s degree in a technical field with 3+ years of relevant professional experience, or an Associate degree with 6+ years of relevant professional experience, or a High School Diploma/GED with 8+ years of proven professional experience Proficiency in CNC Lathe Machining, including Swiss Type Lathe and Mill/Turn machining centers Hands-on experience with machine setup and operation Eligibility to access U.S. export-controlled information It’d be great if you also had: Expertise in programming, setup, operation, and troubleshooting of complex CNC machining processes, especially Swiss Type Lathe machines Familiarity with Star Swiss Type Lathe Machines A degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering Background in the aerospace industry Skills in inspection of machined parts Hands-on experience machining stainless steel, titanium, and aluminum Proficiency in CNC Programming using Autodesk Partmaker or ESPRIT CAM. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance.
