Our sustainability team plays an integral role in airports and aviation businesses' efforts to achieve cost and resource savings, reduce impacts, optimize operations, and engage stakeholders in a meaningful manner. Our team is sought after across the country for our expertise, strategic advising, and effective engagement. Sustainability and environmental compliance is dynamic - and so is our practice. We make leaders, in our team and of our clients. Example projects include:Sustainability management and sustainable master plans, focusing on value-added initiatives tailored to unique opportunities and challengesDecarbonization planning and implementation, including Airport Carbon Accreditation support, net zero planning, vehicle and equipment electrification, renewable energy development and alternative fuels, etc.Climate resilience and adaptation planningSustainability integration into design and construction projects - frequently collaborating with our Engineering teammates on major airport capital projectsAdministration of the Envision rating system on airport capital projects (our team has proudly administered more airport Envision projects than any other firm in the world!)Zero waste planning and implementationFunding support for innovative grant programsStakeholder engagement and outreachSocial sustainability and equity considerations into planningCompletion of National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documentation for airport development projects including Environmental Assessments (EA) and Categorical Exclusions (CatEx)Air quality assessments for airport development projects including criteria pollutant and greenhouse gas inventoriesOversee project teams, coordinate with regulatory agencies, and review subconsultant deliverablesWe tailor our approach to every client, every region and every project to maximize value. As a result, every day on the job is different.How do we work as a team? We are privileged to work with clients across the country and internationally in different regions and climates. We also collaborate as a team across time zones. To ensure exceptional service (internally and externally), we value excellent communication skills and responsiveness. While we coordinate frequently via Teams and other tools, in-person connections are instrumental to our work. Therefore, travel is a part of our business. Depending on the project and the skills that you bring, you may expect to travel once or twice a month. Trips are typically one to three nights.What We're Looking for in a New TeammateThe ideal candidate will be inquisitive, personable, and technically savvy with experience leading the integration of sustainability into airport planning, design, and/or operations, and experience with relevant environmental requirements. Candidates should possess strong communication and facilitation skills, as stakeholder engagement is a frequent and exciting opportunity in this role. Project and task management skills are a must. Specific projects will depend upon individual abilities with great potential for professional growth.Knowledge/Skills/AbilitiesThe ideal candidate would possess most of the following:Demonstrated ability to drive projects forward with measurable resultsFamiliarity with sustainability principles, with niche focus areas welcome (e.g., decarbonization, sustainable airport master planning)Familiarity with sustainable design principles, including Envision or LEEDFamiliarity with Airport Carbon AccreditationDemonstrated proficiency with National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) regulatory requirements and associated environmental resource categoriesExperience with air quality modeling, including criteria pollutant and greenhouse gas inventoriesExcellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to proficiently communicate both internally and externally to build collaborative relationshipsDemonstrated proficiency in data management and analysis using ExcelSelf-starter with the ability to work with a geographically distributed teamAbility to balance various project responsibilities and deadlines, while maintaining professionalism and qualityAviation experience preferredWillingness to travel to client sites across the United StatesEducationBachelor's degree in sustainability, climate change, environmental, planning, economics/finance, engineering, or a related field; master's degree a plusLocation is flexible. C&S has offices nationwide.
