The Group Payroll Manager will oversee payroll operations across all platforms and locations in the group. The ideal candidate will ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, maintain data accuracy, and deliver exceptional service to employees while optimizing payroll processes and systems.   • Payroll Operations: Manage end-to-end payroll processing for all locations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Payroll Centralization: Lead and directly manage the centralization of payroll operations for the Electrical Group, encompassing 17 legal entities across 28 locations and supporting an estimated 2,500 employees. Drive standardization of payroll processes, ensure data integrity and compliance during transition phases, and partner cross‑functionally to implement a unified group payroll structure.
  • Compliance & Audits: Ensure adherence to U.S. payroll laws and guidelines, staying current with regulatory changes. Prepare for and support internal/external audits.
  • Leadership & Team Management: Lead a team of payroll specialists across multiple locations, setting performance goals, providing training, supporting collaboration and offering guidance.
  • System Oversight: Oversee the payroll systems used across all locations. Ensure data integrity, troubleshoot system issues, and recommend upgrades or new solutions.
  • Reporting & Analysis: Generate detailed payroll reports and analytics to support strategic business decisions. Collaborate with finance teams to align payroll data with budgets and forecasts.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with HR, Finance, and Operations teams to maintain seamless payroll functions and address employee concerns.
  • Process Improvement: Identify inefficiencies in current payroll processes and implement best practices to optimize workflows.
  • Initiating Action: Proactively identify payroll risks, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities and independently initiate corrective or enhancement actions. Lead payroll‑related projects and process changes from concept through execution, including system enhancements, policy updates, and workflow redesigns. Anticipate business and regulatory changes, assess impact to payroll operations, and take timely action to ensure continuity, compliance, and operational excellence.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE QUALIFICATIONS

  • BS degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 3-5 years of progressive payroll experience utilizing ADP Workforce Now and Workday, preferably in a multi-location environment.
  • Payroll Org, Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) minimum a plus.
  • ADP custom reporting and Smart Compliance experience a plus
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong initiative and proactive approach to problem solving
  • Superior interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proficient Microsoft Office user, focused on Excel. Intermediate to advanced knowledge a must.
  • Passion for payroll, collaboration, learning, process improvements, and technology.
  • Enthusiasm for teaching and helping others.
  • A “roll up your sleeves” attitude and willingness to do the day-to-day work

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Location & Work Environment: This position is fully remote. The team values in‑person collaboration when beneficial, and the role holder will have access to our downtown Chicago office for trainings, meetings, team events, or working sessions.
  • Travel Requirements: The role includes 15–20% travel, with increased travel during the initial year to support group payroll integration and stakeholder engagement. Following the first year, travel is anticipated to occur on a quarterly basis.

Pay Range: 96,000.00 - 144,000.00 We offer a comprehensive benefits package that may include medical, dental, vision, 401k matching, and more!
