Senior Data Engineer (Azure)

We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to support our modernization efforts. This role focuses on building and maintaining data pipelines, data models, and analytics environments as we move from legacy systems to a modern, cloud‑native platform on Microsoft Azure. This role does require the ability to obtain a public trust clearance!

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain scalable data pipelines on Azure.
  • Develop data ingestion, transformation, and processing solutions.
  • Work with engineers, analysts, and business teams to understand data needs.
  • Support reporting and analytics by ensuring data is accurate and accessible.
  • Automate repetitive data tasks and create reusable code.
  • Optimize pipelines for performance, cost, and security.
  • Manage data storage solutions such as data lakes and data warehouses.
  • Document data processes and follow data governance standards.
  • Monitor pipelines, troubleshoot issues, and ensure stability.
  • Mentor junior team members and participate in code reviews.

Required Qualifications

  • Strong experience with Python, Airflow, Data Modeling, Azure DevOps.
  • Ability to obtain a public trust clearance.
  • Database experience with SQL and NoSQL.
  • Experiencex with Azure Synapse, Azure Data Factory, Databricks, ADLS, Azure SQL, and Power BI.
  • Knowledge of ETL processes, data warehousing, and cloud architecture.

Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Chicago, IL. Pay And Benefits The pay range for this position is $65.00 - $80.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
