About the Role

As a Senior Solution Architect in our Architecture team, you will help our customers by shaping the high-level design of IT environments and ensure our solutions are aligned with strategic objectives, industry frameworks, and emerging technologies. You will lead and mentor other architects and technical staff, provide technical consulting in multiplatform environments, and work closely with stakeholders to define optimal technology solutions that meet business needs. This is a senior architecture role that combines strategic thinking, technical expertise, and the ability to inspire others to deliver exceptional results whilst enabling our customers to best leverage their ICT investment. Our offices are based in Wellington. We like to bring people together in person when we can, but we are mindful of the benefits of working from home for work/ life balance. We therefore leave it to you and the team you join to figure out what works best! What you’ll do At the moment, as Senior Solution Architect you will work with our customers and be focused on:

  • Reviewing and ensuring IT projects comply with architecture strategies and standards.
  • Providing technical consulting across multiple platforms.
  • Delivering Roadmaps to remediate technical debt and modernising customer environments.
  • Engage with stakeholders from the senior management level through to technical teams charged with managing the technology environments.
  • Ensuring optimal technology environments for our customers maximising their technology investment.
  • Leading architecture activities for complex projects and programmes.
  • Exploring and evaluating emerging technologies for innovative, cost-effective solutions.
  • Performing current state assessments at the Infrastructure and Application levels.
  • Integrating Public Cloud designs and services where appropriate.
  • Understanding and aligning architecture and designs to Government standards and policies where relevant including Certification and Accreditation requirements.
  • Mentoring, supervising, and developing Solution Architects.
  • Defining and documenting industry frameworks, policies, and best practices.
  • Working closely with users and technical teams to define solution requirements and support implementation.

  • Knowledge of industry standards and government regulations relevant to architecture and designs for technology solutions.
  • Advanced understanding and experience in designing concepts and technology solutions across Infrastructure, Public Cloud, Networking, Security, and industry frameworks.
  • 7+ years of systems development and design experience.
  • Strong strategic planning, research and architecture skills.
  • Advanced abilities in evaluation of hardware and software options, complex solution design, and project specification.
  • Proven analytical, problem-solving, and technical documentation skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering or equivalent industry experience.

Nice to have:

  • Understanding of emerging technologies in the communications sphere and their potential commercial application.
  • Experience with various networking vendors.
