Job Summary

We're seeking an experienced Part Time Remote Customer Service Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Access Center, you'll be responsible for answering a high volume of inbound calls from patients, healthcare providers, and facilities. Your primary goal will be to provide exceptional customer service, resolve calls efficiently, and ensure accurate data entry in our electronic health record system.

Responsibilities

* Navigate the electronic health record to obtain and validate historical information, capturing and documenting demographic and financial information as needed.

  • Manage a high volume of incoming calls from patients, healthcare providers, and facilities, ensuring resolution to the call and maintaining a professional, positive, and respectful demeanor.
  • Leverage critical thinking with speed and accuracy to identify the reason for the call and take appropriate action based on caller need and acuity.
  • Research complex issues in the electronic health record and consult/escalate to clinical staff when necessary, utilizing multiple job aids and resources to provide an appropriate level of service.
  • Schedule patient visits based on complex provider preferences, verify and update insurance, and collect and document demographics.
  • Maintain proficiency in and share knowledge of insurance basics, MyChart, and appointment instructions, documenting and sending messages to providers and clinical staff in the electronic health record for clinical-based needs.
  • Communicate directly with providers (physicians) to relay pertinent clinical information during after-hours, ensuring seamless communication and patient care.

Key Performance Indicators

* Manage calls within established performance and customer service standards, achieving targeted abandoned call rate, average speed of answer, and average transaction time.

  • Provide excellent and consistent customer service in a variety of situations, communicating in a professional, positive, and respectful manner with patients, providers, BJC staff, and external organizations.

Requirements

* High School Diploma or GED

  • 2-5 years of recent healthcare or customer service experience
  • No supervisor experience required
  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner, as determined by arenaflex
