As part of Team Amex, you'll experience this powerful backing with comprehensive support for your holistic well-being and many opportunities to learn new skills, develop as a leader, and grow your career. Here, your voice and ideas matter, your work makes an impact, and together, you will help us define the future of American Express. How will you make an impact in this role? This role sits within the Colleague Experience Group (CEG) in Business Quality & Operations and reports to the Manager – Strategic Initiatives within the Colleague Data Office. The Data Operations & Enablement Analyst acts as a central point of contact for colleague data requests across CEG and the broader enterprise, enabling efficient, compliant, and transparent delivery of colleague data and insights. The role works closely with data enablement, reporting and analytics, and governance teams to make sure requests are clearly defined, properly prioritized, completed as expected, and handled in line with company standards. In addition to day-to-day request management, this role plays a key part in improving how colleagues access and use data over time. This includes simplifying processes, reducing manual work, and expanding self-service data tools so teams can get what they need more easily. By partnering across teams and following strong governance practices, the analyst helps ensure colleague data is used appropriately while accelerating access to insights for faster, more informed business decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Managing colleague data requests from start to finish, including reviewing requests, setting priorities, assigning work, tracking progress, and closing requests when complete.
  • Acting as the main point of contact between data requestors, reporting and analytic teams, data enablement partners, and governance teams to ensure clarity on scope, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Maintaining clear and accurate documentation and status communications throughout the full life cycle of each data request.
  • Partnering with data governance and risk teams to ensure all data access, handling, and delivery adhere to American Express data standards, privacy requirements, access controls, and enterprise risk policies.
  • Monitoring and analyzing operational performance metrics (e.g., request volumes, turnaround times, service levels) to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Identifying enhancement opportunities regarding how data requests are handled to simply processes, reduce manual steps, and make workflows more efficient.
  • Helping automate repeat tasks and supporting the rollout of self-service data tools that allow colleagues to access data more easily without manual effort.
  • Supporting training and change efforts to help colleagues understand and consistently use data request processes, tools, and governance practices across Enterprise.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in data operations, analytics enablement, workflow coordination, or data request management within a regulated or enterprise environment.
  • Proven ability to manage end-to-end operational processes with a strong focus on accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
  • Experience analyzing operational metrics and translating insights into process improvements or automation opportunities.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple, concurrent workstreams and shifting priorities.
  • Detail-oriented and analytical with a passion for continuous improvement.
  • Proactive problem solver who identifies inefficiencies and drives solutions with minimal oversight.
  • Intellectual curiosity and willingness to quickly learn AMEX systems, data environments, and cross-functional dependencies.
  • Demonstrated “can-do” approach with the ability to operate effectively in ambiguous or unstructured environments, navigating uncertainty with resilience, sound judgment, and a bias toward action.
  • Strong customer service orientation with the ability to advocate for requestor needs while aligning to enterprise standards.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Business Analytics, Data Management, Operations Management, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with AMEX data sources and environments, enablement platforms, or self-service tools (e.g., big data platforms, internal dashboards).
  • Working knowledge of data governance principles, including data quality, access management, and privacy controls.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel/Sheets for tracking and analysis and PowerPoint for executive-ready communications.
  • Prior experience supporting Human Resources or colleague-focused data domains.
