Description The Department of Industrial and Management Systems Engineering in the Benjamin M. Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources is currently accepting applications for a (Remote) Temporary Instructional Designer. This position will assist in establishing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) development schedule to accomplish course build.

What You'll Do

Maintain communication with, and receive guidance from, lead instructional designer (ID) on a regular basis and when any questions or concerns arise. Work with lead ID and SME to establish a memorandum of understanding (MoU) development schedule to accomplish course build in the time allocated. Maintain laser focus on completing all aspects of MoU on time or early. Advise lead ID of any challenges. Document course build progress in Trello system and update MoU to reflect when items are received from SME and tasks are completed. Receive Preliminary Design Documents (PDDs) for each module from SME and create/include things in BlackBoard Ultra (and potentially Articulate Rise) such as learning modules, document/content pages, narrative text, images, readings, assignments, discussions, rubrics, assessments, embedded videos, interaction knowledge checks, and reading assignments. Follow design recommendations and templates provided by the lead ID to ensure content consistency with WVU and program standards, and ensure accessibility using ALLY, best practices, and other accessibility checkers as needed. Edit videos and audio files as needed to ensure appropriate length and quality. Follow known best practices for instructional design (Examples: OSCQR/QM). Maintain communication with SME on a regular basis. Reach out with questions, notify when content has been created and is ready for review, obtain feedback for needed revisions, and request final review and signoff on modules when completed. Length of Assignment: Approximately 8.5 Months Work Hours: 37.5 Hours per week Qualifications Master's degree in Instructional Design or related field. A minimum of three (3) years of experience involving: Designing online courses for higher education, or equivalent level of education and experience. Experience developing content on and working with learning management systems (LMS). Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience will be considered.
