[Remote] Seasonal Tax Preparer
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Mercer Advisors is a leading independent financial services firm that has been helping families manage their financial lives for over 40 years. They are seeking a Seasonal Tax Preparer to provide support to the tax preparation team, which includes preparing federal and multi-state income tax returns and utilizing tax preparation software.
Responsibilities
- Assist with preparing federal and multi-state individuals and trust income tax returns
- Learn and effectively utilize Lacerte tax preparation software to continually learn, share knowledge with team members, and enhance the quality of service to clients
- Prepare and format excel spreadsheets for trust accounting
- Review documents and tax returns for accuracy
- Perform tax technical research assigned by supervisors
- Coordinate and communicate with tax advisors, managers, and other team members to perform job functions
- Administrative tasks (filing, phone calls, etc.)
- Other various assigned projects
Skills
- Degree in Accounting or related field
- Knowledge of tax laws and concepts
- Active PTIN
- Familiarity with Form 1040 and/or Form 1041
- Strong technical skills
- Attention to detail and ability to take initiative to meet deadlines
- Strong communications skills (written/verbal) and professionalism
- Ability to work independently and remain flexible as priorities change
- Proficient in Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
- Excellent organizational skills, ability to multi-task, detail-oriented
- Able to navigate a fast-paced environment with a positive attitude
- Experience with UltraTax software
- CPA or Enrolled Agent certification
