Assistant Project Manager (APM) / Estimator - Industrial Controls

Egan Company is seeking qualified candidates for an Assistant Project Manager/Estimator position in their Industrial Controls team located in Champlin, MN. This role provides business and administrative support for Project Managers while learning project management methods and assisting with project goals, schedules, and budgets.

Responsibilities

  • Becoming familiar with the materials, equipment, and components being installed by Egan Company trades
  • Assist Project Manager in identifying schedules of work and ordering of materials and equipment for assigned projects
  • Work with Project Managers in estimating project pricing and creating proposal letters
  • Track efficiencies of installation in the field and work with Project Manager to identify potential installation concerns, schedule issues/conflicts, and help create potential solutions
  • Assist Project Manager in composing and managing day-to-day administrative items (i.e. expense reports, Labor Efficiency Reports, Purchase Orders, Shop drawings, Submittals, RFI’s, Progress Letters, etc.)
  • Assist in monitoring of subcontractors contracts, schedules, and cost control
  • Ensure that Egan Company Safety policies and goals are communicated and followed on projects
  • Attend project meetings as required
  • Assist Project Managers with preparing project billings and associated documentation
  • Coordinate and manage the project punchlist process
  • Manage and update project contract drawings and specifications in Egan systems
  • Manage Egan tradespeople on our construction sites
  • Develop and foster long-term relationships with customers through quality performance and work
  • Assume a proactive approach to career development and attend training courses as recommended by Group Manager
  • All other duties assigned

Skills

  • High School Diploma
  • 2-yr A.A.S. Degree in Project Management or
  • 3-yr+ Field experience as an electrician in the electrical construction industry
  • 0-3-yrs of project management experience (electrical construction preferred) or field experience equivalent
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with all levels of internal and external customers
  • Has a “team” mindset and work effectively within a project team
  • Strong Organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and projects concurrently
  • Eagerness to learn new ideas and concepts
  • Proficient in the use of standard office computer programs such as Google Suite, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Project
  • Experience utilizing Accubid Estimating Software
  • Accubid Enterprise experience preferred, but not required and will train
