Position: Patent Attorney – Digital Technologies (Physics, AI, Cryptography) Role Overview We are seeking part-qualified or fully qualified Patent Attorneys with a strong academic foundation in physics, mathematics, engineering, or computer science. Ideal candidates will have experience or interest in digital technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, cryptography, quantum computing, and related areas. This is a permanent, full-time role with hybrid work flexibility (3 days in the office, 2 from home). With a reputation for excellence in patent drafting, prosecution, and litigation, our team has been instrumental in many landmark patent cases across the UK and Germany. Our professionals work at the convergence of emerging fields—such as AI with biotech and health tech—supporting high-value matters including licensing, standards, litigation, and complex patent strategy. About the Position We are looking for Patent Attorneys confident in handling technologically complex and mathematically intensive subject matter. Candidates should have expertise in areas such as AI, machine learning, cryptography, statistical modeling, acoustics, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and post-quantum computing. Applicants with Bachelor's, Master’s, or PhD degrees will be considered, though preference is given to those with advanced qualifications and a proven ability to manage sophisticated technologies. Ideal Candidate Profile You should be comfortable working in a modern, fast-paced professional environment with the independence to manage your workload. Key competencies include:

  • Strong academic background (preferably First Class or equivalent).
  • Personable and professional demeanor—adaptable, well-prepared, and proactive.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to clearly articulate complex concepts and construct well-reasoned legal arguments.
  • Comfort working with stakeholders at all organizational levels.
  • Understanding of IP law in a commercial context.
  • Ability to manage competing deadlines across multiple client matters.
  • Outstanding research and analytical capabilities.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and high-level organizational skills.
  • Initiative and independence in work planning and execution.
