The Difference You Will Make: Your role will be essential in ensuring that every business area has access to reliable data to drive insights and innovation. Key responsibilities include understanding business needs, securing the right data sources, designing effective data models, and building robust data pipelines. As technology evolves, we are integrating both batch and stream processing to meet the business’s latency requirements. We value Data Engineering as part of our Engineering organization, emphasizing solid software engineering fundamentals. We welcome Data Engineers with diverse skill sets, whether your expertise lies in data modeling or stream processing. A Typical Day:

  • Develop and automate large-scale, high-performance data processing systems (batch and streaming) to support Airbnb’s growth and enhance product experiences.
  • Build scalable Spark data pipelines using the Airflow scheduler/executor framework.
  • Design data models for optimal storage and retrieval, aligned with critical product and business needs.
  • Influence and improve logging practices to support data flow architecture.
  • Contribute to shared Data Engineering tools and standards to enhance productivity and quality across the team.
  • Enhance data quality by utilizing and improving internal tools to automatically detect issues. Your Expertise:
  • 2-4 years of relevant industry experience, with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field (or a Master’s degree in lieu of experience).
  • Proven ability to analyze large datasets, identify gaps and inconsistencies, and provide data insights to drive effective product solutions.
  • Experience in designing and deploying high-performance systems with reliable monitoring and logging.
  • Proficiency in relational databases and SQL query authoring.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. How We’ll Take Care Of You: Our job titles may cover multiple career levels. The starting base pay for this role ranges from $134,000 to $179,500, depending on factors such as training, skills, experience, business needs, and market demands. This role may also be eligible for bonuses, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.
