As a Dock Operations Specialist, you will play a critical role in the success of our operations, working closely with our team to ensure that freight is handled and transported safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

As a Dock Operations Specialist, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:

  • Performing freight handling using appropriate motorized and manual equipment, including forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks
  • Verifying documentation matches freight description, using current electronic or manual systems
  • Securing freight inside trailers using appropriate tools and supplies, such as pallets, straps, and rope
  • Recouping and repairing damaged freight when necessary
  • Verifying and completing required documentation and reports
  • Assisting customers with freight and freight documentation as needed
  • Performing hostling duties if required
  • Complying with all applicable laws and regulations, as well as company policies and procedures

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, preferred
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Prior experience in warehousing, freight handling, and/or forklift operations preferred
  • If hostler/yard mule duties are required, experience preferred
  • Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator
  • Basic written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to lift/carry hand freight of varying weights several times a week, to lift dock plates weighing approximately 100 pounds, and to open trailer doors requiring approximately 75 pounds of lift force, up to several times per day or more
  • Ability to bend, twist, squat, pushing/pulling freight throughout shift
  • Ability to work independently and/or as a team member
  • Previous dock/warehouse experience preferred

Working Conditions

As a Dock Operations Specialist, you will work in a dock environment, which may expose you to varied weather conditions, exhaust, fumes, dust, and noise. You may also be required to work varying hours due to operational needs. You will have frequent contact with service center personnel and will be working in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
