Job Summary
As an Ocean Product Development Specialist, you'll play a critical role in supporting the growth of our ocean volumes and enhancing the development of our ocean product. You'll work closely with our MD of Ocean, carrier development teams, and sales and operations teams to implement strategies that increase volumes, maximize competitiveness, and enhance service quality. Key Responsibilities
* Support the growth of ocean volumes and enhance the development of the ocean product by implementing strategies that increase volumes, maximize competitiveness, and enhance service quality
- Work closely with the MD of Ocean, carrier development teams, and sales and operations teams to communicate direction and deliverables
- Assist in implementing pricing programs, reviewing volume targets, and developing an ocean strategy that enhances the effectiveness of sales to achieve expectations of account development and yield enhancement
- Conduct regular service reviews to ensure agreed-upon KPIs are being met or exceeded
- Assist in gathering, analyzing, and reporting information regarding performance and competitive activity; submit reports as required
- Work with the MD of Ocean, along with the regional ocean management team, to promote the ocean product
- Support sales and operations as needed
- Manage annual budget; control, monitor, and report results on a regular basis to achieve budget targets
- Work closely with marketing to develop external and internal communications specific to the ocean product
Essential Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- At least 8 years of experience in the international freight forwarding industry, including direct ocean experience in working with ocean contracts, negotiating ocean rates, quoting ocean rates, analyzing ocean rates, and routing
- Prior ocean carrier experience is a plus
- Familiar with Microsoft Office apps
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Business-oriented and remarkable business acumen
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience in implementing pricing programs and developing ocean strategies
- Knowledge of ocean carrier performance and competitive activity
- Experience in managing annual budgets and controlling, monitoring, and reporting results
- Familiarity with global trade lane teams and sales and operations teams
