Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Full Stack Math Teacher to join our team of dedicated professionals. As a part-time Sylvan Instructor, you will be trained on our curriculum and given the tools to teach in a small group setting, with a maximum student-to-teacher ratio of 4:1. You will provide personalized instruction in the subjects you are qualified to and wish to teach, using our proven and effective teaching methods.

Key Responsibilities

As a successful Math Teacher, you will:
  • Teach using Sylvan-based programs, designed to meet the unique needs of each student
  • Supervise, interact with, and motivate students during instruction hours, while they work with equipment and materials
  • Reward students for completed assignments and provide positive reinforcement to encourage continued progress
  • Evaluate and document student progress, identifying areas of strength and weakness
  • Communicate student needs to the center manager, ensuring that each student receives the support they require to succeed
  • Develop rapport with students and establish a fun learning environment, making math accessible and enjoyable for all
  • Maintain a positive attitude and demonstrate enthusiasm for teaching and Sylvan's mission

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:
  • Minimum 1 year of teaching or tutoring experience, with a proven track record of success
  • Test prep, SAT/ACT teaching or tutoring experience is a plus, but not required
  • Associates degree in Mathematics, Engineering, Physics, or some college in a related field required
  • Availability to work Monday through Thursday, 3:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. and Saturdays as needed
