About the Role

As an Online Part Time Faculty - German, you will play a vital role in delivering online lessons to undergraduate and graduate students, initiating and facilitating online classroom forums, and evaluating student assignments and papers. You will be responsible for creating a rewarding online learning experience for students, engaging them, challenging them, and supporting them in their academic journey. Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver online lessons to undergraduate and graduate students, ensuring a high level of teaching excellence and student engagement
  • Initiate, facilitate, interact, and moderate online classroom forums, promoting a sense of community and encouraging student participation
  • Evaluate and grade student assignments and papers, providing effective feedback to guide student learning and success
  • Comply with APUS guidelines and expectations for quality faculty engagement online, ensuring a high level of responsiveness and interaction with students
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and stay up-to-date with effective online learning strategies
  • Conduct scholarly research and participate in professional engagement activities, maintaining a high level of discipline knowledge and expertise

Essential Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you will need to meet the following essential qualifications:

  • Masters degree in German from a regionally accredited institution, or a related discipline with 18 graduate credit hours in German
  • College-level teaching experience, preferably in an online environment
  • Record of excellence in teaching, with a strong passion for the German language and culture
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students in an online environment
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines

Preferred Qualifications

While not essential, the following qualifications are preferred:

  • Online teaching experience, with a strong understanding of effective online learning strategies and techniques
  • Experience with learning management systems and online educational technologies
  • Knowledge of the Community of Inquiry Framework, with experience in creating a sense of teaching presence, cognitive presence, and social presence in an online environment
  • Experience in curriculum development and assessment, with a strong understanding of academic standards and expectations
