Key Responsibilities

As a Remote Customer Service Representative, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Serving as a direct point of contact for individuals registering for federal assistance, asking questions about prior registrations, and seeking relief program referrals via the call center.
  • Conducting all calls with patience, tact, and courtesy to determine needs, provide instructions, and/or referrals, and ensuring that all interactions are professional and respectful.
  • Entering information into blithequark's Windows-based computer database as required, while following instructions and conducting scripted interviews.
  • Providing phone numbers and agency referrals as necessary for applicable secondary support organizations and other assistance.
  • Performing additional duties assigned based on blithequark's level of support to the event.
  • Attending all scheduled shift meetings to receive event-specific information prior to beginning shift.
  • Displaying excellent communication and customer service skills, and exhibiting a high level of professionalism in all communications, including reading, writing, and speaking English fluently.

Minimum Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Associate degree or equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work experience considered in lieu of degree.
  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • Ability to manage a high level of confidentiality.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to perform comfortably in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented work environment.
  • Ability to work as a team member, as well as independently.
  • Must have high-speed internet connection with a minimum download speed of 25 Mbps (50 Mbps for a shared connection) and 5 Mbps (10 Mbps preferred) upload speed.

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications are highly desirable:

  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish (or other languages).
  • Previous experience in customer service, call center operations, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with disaster relief and recovery efforts.
  • Experience working with vulnerable populations, such as disaster survivors.
