Experienced Education Consultant Supervisor for Statewide Literacy Initiatives and Educational Program Development

Key Responsibilities

As an Education Consultant Supervisor, your duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Supervising and managing staff responsible for leading and managing literacy improvement initiatives
  • Developing and establishing a statewide strategy for leader and teacher professional development
  • Overseeing the development and implementation of literacy initiatives across all stages of literacy development
  • Collaborating with other teams to develop and implement a coherent set of tools for literacy support from birth through twelfth grade
  • Making recommendations for policy and programs related to birth to twelfth grade literacy
  • Advising and assisting Department personnel, local superintendents of education, state and local school boards, legislative bodies, central office personnel, early childhood directors, and others on policies, guidelines, and laws
  • Developing strategy, scope, and sequence of technical assistance and professional development activities
  • Serving as a liaison between the general public and the Department, providing assistance to students, parents, local administrators, and teachers
  • Overseeing the maintenance and monitoring of federal and state budgets, purchases, or contracts related to literacy
  • Completing all other duties as assigned by the Division Director and Assistant Superintendent

Essential and Preferred Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A baccalaureate degree plus six years of professional level experience in teaching or education; or in a public or private sector setting
  • A master's degree plus five years of professional level experience in teaching or education; or in a public or private sector setting
  • A master's degree in education plus four years of professional level experience in teaching or education; or in a public or private sector setting
  • Preferred candidates will have experience teaching in ELA classrooms, managing a team, and experience in a leadership position
  • Strong communication and project management skills are highly desirable
