As an Input Device System Design Engineer, you will play a crucial role in creating cutting-edge devices such as mice, trackpads, keyboards, and remotes that are both functional and intuitive.

As a world-class electrical engineer, you will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to design, implement, integrate, and qualify Human Interface Devices that exceed user expectations. Your expertise will be instrumental in driving the development of state-of-the-art sensing and haptic technologies that will take HCI to the next level.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of next-generation HCI hardware, working closely with cross-functional teams to drive projects from concept to high-volume production.
  • Assess project risk and maturity levels, performing tasks such as characterization, validation, and debugging across all development builds to ensure timely and successful project execution.
  • Apply state-of-the-art sensing and haptic technologies to design innovative human interface devices that are both functional and user-friendly.
  • Author detailed engineering requirements specifications to guide the development process and ensure that all stakeholders are aligned.
  • Design and manage the electrical system, including power management, micro-controller, wireless communication, sensor integration, and component selection, to ensure seamless integration and optimal performance.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturing partners to ensure smooth production and resolve any issues that may arise during the manufacturing process.
  • Interface with and present to cross-functional leaders for project reviews and discussions, providing updates on project status and addressing any concerns or questions.

Essential Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A BS or above degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Working knowledge of board/system level electrical designs with micro-controller and hands-on experience in prototype design, bring-up, debugging, characterization, and functional verification.
  • Familiarity with common interfaces such as I2C, SPI, JTAG, and USB, as well as system-level design principles.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

To stand out in this role, you will ideally have:

  • A successful track record of working closely with mechanical engineers and firmware teams to drive projects forward.
  • Experience in DC-DC converter design and application, including buck and boost configurations.
  • Experience in sensor selection and integration at the system level, including capacitive, optical, resistive, or other types of sensors.
  • A proven track record of designing high-volume, high-quality consumer electronic products that meet or exceed user expectations.
  • Experience in data analysis and scripting languages to drive data-driven decision-making.
