The Opportunity

As an ALM and Capital Model Owner, you'll play a critical role in overseeing the development and maintenance of our Solvency and ERM models, while enhancing senior management's understanding of GALIC's financial and risk profile. You'll lead a team of actuaries and analysts, collaborating with financial reporting, risk management, and product development areas to drive business growth and success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide actuarial leadership, including staff development, communication, and relationship building among departments
  • Oversee and continuously improve ALM, Capital, and Solvency models as they relate to GALIC's business, including support for Actuarial, Finance, and corporate strategies, and GALIC's ERM process
  • Maintain a controlled model environment under established model governance procedures
  • Engage actively in emerging capital and valuation regulations
  • Provide strategic insight while helping to identify future financial performance drivers and indicators related to GALIC's businesses, with the ability to clearly articulate principal findings and recommendations

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • Associate or Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (ASA or FSA) or equivalent professional credential from a recognized professional actuarial association
  • 7+ years of relevant actuarial experience
  • In-depth experience with actuarial projection software
  • Strong knowledge and experience with statutory reporting for annuities, particularly index-linked annuities
  • Knowledge of ALM modeling and analytical techniques for both assets and liabilities

Preferred Qualifications

To stand out in this role, you'll ideally have:

  • Supervisory experience
  • Extensive knowledge of Prophet
  • Strong business acumen, with the ability to work on assignments of highest technical complexity and perform multiple functions at a high level
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong business relationships and influence stakeholders
