Commercial Residential Claims Adjuster

What you will do in this position:

  • Manage caseload of pending commercial residential claims.
  • Utilize superior customer service skills while working with insureds and external business partners regarding the handling and/or disposition of claims.
  • Proactively communicate and set accurate claims expectations with customers throughout the claims process while providing high quality customer service.
  • Evaluate claims and policy coverage within established authority.
  • Examine, analyze, and appropriately interpret policies, forms, and other records to determine coverage and extent of company's exposure or liability.
  • Negotiate and settle claims in accordance with Slide's guidelines and industry standards.
  • Pursue continuing education opportunities to remain abreast of emerging laws or other required changes to insurance-related processes.
  • Research and appropriately apply knowledge of multiple state statutes, including the insurance code of ethics, rules, regulations, and guidelines.
  • Ensure legal compliance, adherence to claims processes, and timely payments.
  • Establish timely and appropriate claim reserves in accordance with claim standards.
  • Appropriately represent the company by providing a high-level of service and always maintaining professionalism.
  • Contribute to the business production goals and objectives.
  • Perform occasional weekend work to meet or support critical business operations.
  • Perform other duties, as assigned.

What you bring to the position: Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of a high school diploma and pertinent work experience is required.
  • Active Florida 6-20 Resident All Lines Adjuster License is required.
  • 2+ years of experience in Commercial Residential / Homeowner Association master policy Claims dealing with a wide variety of property claims required.
  • Experience with Florida insurance laws and Florida good faith claims handling a preferred.
  • Experience working directly for an insurance carrier a plus.
  • Industry designations or certifications a plus.

Qualifications/Skills and Competencies needed to be successful

  • Excellent interpersonal, critical thinking, analytical, organizational, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • A data-driven, analytical approach is necessary.
  • Working knowledge required to interpret and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures, and department operational guidelines in daily functions.
  • Possesses strong customer service skills with the ability to calmly address customer escalations.
  • Ability to work independently, multi-task and adapt to frequent priority changes.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize workload, organize, and coordinate multiple tasks and projects.
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 applications such as Teams, SharePoint, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Excellent writing skills required.
  • Guidewire experience a plus.
  • Xactimate proficiency a plus.
