Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Grade 7 Science Teacher to join our team of dedicated educators. As a Science Teacher, you will be responsible for planning, organizing, and delivering high-quality instructional programs that cater to the diverse needs of our students. You will work closely with our team of teachers, administrators, and support staff to create a collaborative and inclusive learning environment that promotes academic excellence, creativity, and critical thinking.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement engaging and effective lesson plans that align with the Connecticut State Frameworks and the Connecticut Common Core of Teaching
  • Instruct, guide, discipline, and supervise students in accordance with our institution's goals and objectives, the Professional Code of Responsibilities, and the Connecticut Common Core of Learning
  • Monitor student progress, identify areas of improvement, and develop individual student improvement plans to ensure that all students meet their full potential
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, including attendance, grades, and student progress reports
  • Establish and maintain sound relationships with students, parents, fellow teachers, non-teaching personnel, and administrators
  • Participate in professional development activities to stay current with best practices in science education and to enhance your teaching skills
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement school-wide initiatives and programs that promote academic excellence, creativity, and critical thinking

Qualifications and Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following qualifications and skills:

  • Connecticut Certification in Science Education (Grade 7)
  • A bachelor's degree in Science Education or a related field
  • Proven experience in teaching science to Grade 7 students
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and administrators
  • Strong knowledge of the Connecticut State Frameworks and the Connecticut Common Core of Teaching
  • Familiarity with best practices in science education, including inquiry-based learning, project-based learning, and technology integration

Preferred Qualifications

  • A master's degree in Science Education or a related field
  • Experience with curriculum development, instructional design, and assessment
  • Knowledge of educational technology, including learning management systems and online resources
  • Experience with differentiated instruction, Universal Design for Learning (UDL), and culturally responsive teaching practices
  • Ability to speak multiple languages, including Spanish, Polish, or other languages spoken by our student population

Compensation, Perks, and Benefits
