Patient Care Specialist

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Patient Care Specialist for our client's team. The ideal candidate will have experience working with patients or medical practices and aims to minimize training time through their existing expertise. This position requires strong communication skills, particularly in handling patient interactions over the phone and making calls on behalf of doctors.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide exceptional customer service to patients and their families.
  • Handle patient inquiries and concerns promptly and professionally, ensuring a positive experience.
  • Coordinate appointments, referrals, and follow-up care as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with healthcare providers and other staff members to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and documentation.
  • Assist with administrative tasks such as scheduling, billing, and insurance verification.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes and satisfaction.
  • Adhere to all HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality at all times.

Requirements

  • Previous experience working with patients or in a medical practice setting.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in handling patient interactions over the phone or making calls on behalf of doctors.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • An empathetic and compassionate approach to patient care.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare processes preferred.
  • Proficiency with computer systems and electronic medical records (EMR) software.

Minimum Technical and Work Environment Requirements

  • Internet Connection:
    • Primary internet connection with a minimum speed of 15 Mbps.
    • Backup internet connection with at least 10 Mbps.
    • Backup connection must be capable of supporting work during a power outage.
  • Primary Device:
    • Desktop or laptop equipped with at least:
      • Intel Core i5 (8th generation or newer), Intel Core i3 (10th generation or newer), AMD Ryzen 5, or an equivalent processor.
      • A minimum of 8 GB RAM.
  • Backup Device:
    • Must meet or exceed the performance of an Intel Core i3 processor.
    • Must be functional during power interruptions.
  • Peripherals and Workspace:
    • A functioning webcam.
    • A noise-canceling USB headset.
    • A quiet, dedicated home office space.
    • A smartphone for communication and verification purposes.
