Network Engineer Routing/Switching/Firewall Management

Job Overview

cFocus Software is seeking a highly skilled Network Engineer IV (Routing/Switching/Firewall Management) to support the Security Tools and Infrastructure Modernization (STIM) contract with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). This role can be performed in Atlanta, GA or Washington, DC or Remote. The Network Engineer IV will provide senior-level expertise in enterprise network design, implementation, and management, with a focus on Cisco routing/switching and enterprise firewall technologies. A public trust will be required.

Responsibilities

  • Configure, administer, and troubleshoot Cisco routers, switches, and wireless LAN controllers.
  • Implement and maintain enterprise firewalls (Cisco ASA, Palo Alto, or equivalent).
  • Manage enterprise LAN/WAN environments including IPv4 and IPv6 networking.
  • Configure advanced routing protocols such as OSPF, BGP, and EIGRP.
  • Implement VPNs, VLANs, ACLs, and network segmentation solutions.
  • Ensure high availability and redundancy using HSRP, VRRP, load balancing, and QoS.
  • Monitor and analyze network performance, diagnosing and resolving connectivity issues.
  • Support enterprise modernization initiatives, migrations, and network upgrades.
  • Document network diagrams, SOPs, and technical specifications.
  • Participate in 24/7/365 operations and on-call support rotations.

Required Experience

  • 10+ years of enterprise network engineering experience.
  • Hands-on expertise with Cisco routing and switching technologies.
  • Proven experience in firewall administration and security policy enforcement.
  • Demonstrated ability to support enterprise LAN/WAN modernization projects.
  • Experience mentoring junior network engineers and providing SME-level guidance.

Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP Enterprise) certification required.
  • Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE Enterprise Infrastructure) strongly preferred.
  • Additional certifications such as Palo Alto PCNSE or Check Point CCSE are desirable.

Clearance Requirement

  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Public Trust (High-Risk, Level 5) clearance.
