Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Corporate Controller to join our team. As the Corporate Controller, you will be responsible for managing our accounting operations and financial reporting, ensuring that our financial systems are optimized to support our business growth. This role is different from a typical controller, as it requires a strong background in internal audit to build and maintain strong financial controls within the trucking industry.

Responsibilities:

  • Recruit, lead, and develop a high-performing accounting team.
  • Lead all aspects of the accounting function, including general ledger management, financial statement preparation, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and revenue recognition.
  • Oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and maintain a consistent, audit-ready set of financial records.
  • Establish and refine accounting policies and procedures that align with operational requirements and company goals.
  • Collaborate with operations, billing, and collections teams to ensure accurate recognition of drayage accessorials and other variable revenue elements.
  • Partner closely with FP&A and executive leadership to support financial planning, analysis, and decision-making.
  • Manage relationships with external accountants and tax advisors to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local tax requirements.
  • Support cash flow forecasting, working capital analysis, and treasury operations as needed.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA required
  • 12+ years of experience in accounting, including at least 7 years in a leadership role
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and internal controls over financial reporting
  • Hands-on experience building and maintaining strong financial controls and processes
  • Experience in a transportation or supply chain company is strongly preferred
  • Highly analytical, detail-oriented, and able to work under tight deadlines
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced, constantly changing environment
  • This role will be onsite in our San Francisco office

The expected salary range for this role is $245,000-260,000. The actual base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and other factors permitted by law. Decisions will be made on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
