Job Summary

As a Full Stack Backend Engineer on the Platform and Shared Services team at Shipt, you will be responsible for designing, building, and optimizing the systems and services that power Shipt's core systems and Platform Integrations. You will work on a team of about 5 engineers to design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain application code using Golang, Postgres, Redis, and Kafka in a micro-services architecture.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain application code using Golang, Postgres, Redis, and Kafka in a micro-services architecture
• Collaborate with staff, principal, senior engineers, and the product team to drive the architecture delivery for the success of business goals
• Work in an Agile environment and follow agile practices
• Participate in the design process to build efficient, scalable, and maintainable architecture
• Monitor and own the platform and shared services team and be part of weekly on-call production support rotation
• Review and collaborate with other engineers on their code
• Effectively collaborate with diverse teams and have excellent written and verbal communication skills

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

• 2+ years of experience working on end-to-end software development lifecycle
• Strong knowledge of backend microservice applications and development using Golang or a similar programming language like Java, C#, C/C++, or Python
• Experience with Postgres, Redis, and Kafka
• Strong knowledge of testing fundamentals; unit, integration, e2e, etc.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to effectively collaborate with diverse teams

Preferred Qualifications

We prefer candidates with:

• Experience working in a remote or distributed team environment
• Knowledge of cloud-based technologies and infrastructure
• Experience with containerization using Docker
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing
