About the Role

We're looking for a high-impact individual to join our team as a Director of User Research. This is a fully remote opportunity that requires a strong and diverse skillset in relevant areas to drive success. As a Director of User Research, you'll be responsible for creating a deep understanding and empathy for our users, driving prioritization of research efforts, and leading a team of talented user researchers. You'll be a highly respected senior partner and thought leader across departments, championing and driving high-quality user experiences across our ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct qualitative and quantitative research studies to inform product development and design decisions
• Drive prioritization of research efforts in support of broader organizational goals
• Lead, mentor, and grow a team of talented user researchers
• Be a highly respected senior partner and thought leader across departments
• Champion and drive high-quality user experiences across Workiva's ecosystem
• Develop and maintain a deep understanding of our customers' needs, preferences, and pain points
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure research findings are integrated into product development and design decisions
• Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in user research, and apply this knowledge to drive innovation and improvement

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you'll need to have a strong background in user research, with a minimum of 10+ years of experience delivering high-quality research results. You'll also need to have 5+ years of experience in building and coaching teams for high-impact results, as well as a strong portfolio or case studies demonstrating measurable business impacts. A Master's degree in a related field is preferred, but not required.

Essential Qualifications

• Minimum 10+ years of experience delivering high-quality research results
• 5+ years of experience in building and coaching teams for high-impact results
• Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Portfolio/Strong case studies demonstrating measurable business impacts
• Demonstrated experience in scaling highly functioning user research teams
• Experience in driving operational excellence for efficiency and effectiveness
• Deep understanding of qualitative and quantitative research methods
• Proven experience in user research, preferably in the B2B SaaS industry
• Ability to influence others, tying insights to business impact
• Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills
• Expert knowledge of user research best practices and methodologies

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in a related field
• Experience with agile methodologies and lean principles
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously
• Experience with user research tools and technologies, such as user testing software and data analysis tools
