Job Summary

As an Estimator (Utilities), you will play a critical role in preparing estimates for our clients, calculating the complete scope of work, and reviewing contracts, proposal specifications, and drawings. You will work closely with our team to develop and support proposal responses, including writing work plans and schedule development. Your experience in electrical utilities, transmission, and distribution construction projects will be highly valued in this role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare estimates by calculating the complete scope of work, including reviewing contracts, proposal specifications, drawings, and attending pre-bid meetings
  • Assist in developing and supporting proposal responses, including writing work plans, schedule development, and reviewing data from past projects
  • Review and include data from past projects, subcontracts, productivity analysis reports, and other relevant information
  • Manage the RFP process for necessary suppliers and subcontractors
  • Provide engineering and cost data to assist in the final evaluation of bids/proposals
  • Follow awarded contracts, including estimating extra work items, credits, change orders, and procurement of materials
  • Facilitate the contract handoff to the appropriate Project Manager, including job cost tracking and productivity analysis
  • Assume additional duties and responsibilities as requested by leadership

Requirements

Essential Qualifications

  • 5+ years of estimating experience, preferably in electrical utilities, transmission, and distribution construction projects
  • Strong understanding of standard electrical systems and experience with transmission and distribution construction projects
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and ability to work under pressure
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work effectively with clients, project managers, and team members

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with electrical utility work, including transmission and distribution construction projects
  • Familiarity with estimating software and tools, such as Bluebeam, Autodesk, and MS Project
  • Professional certifications, such as P.E. or CCE, are highly desirable

Compensation, Perks, and Benefits
