About the Role

We're seeking a highly skilled and experienced Distinguished Engineer to join our Lending As A Service team. As a Distinguished Engineer, you will be a key player in driving the development of next-generation technology solutions that transform the way we deliver lending services to our customers. You will be responsible for building awareness, increasing knowledge, and driving adoption of modern technologies, sharing consumer and engineering benefits to gain buy-in. Your expertise will help us strike the right balance between lending expertise and providing an inclusive environment where others' ideas can be heard and championed.

Key Responsibilities

• Build awareness, increase knowledge, and drive adoption of modern technologies, sharing consumer and engineering benefits to gain buy-in
• Strike the right balance between lending expertise and providing an inclusive environment where others' ideas can be heard and championed
• Drive best delivery practices by creating frameworks, scaffolding, and code samples for engineering teams
• Effectively communicate with and influence key stakeholders across the enterprise, at all levels of the organization
• Operate as a trusted advisor for a specific technology, platform, or capability domain, helping to shape use cases and implementation in a unified manner
• Lead the way in creating next-generation talent for Tech, mentoring internal talent and actively recruiting external talent to bolster Capital One's Tech talent

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to bring a strong and diverse skillset in relevant areas, including:

• Bachelor's Degree
• At least 7 years of experience in software development
• At least 5 years of experience working with at least one of the following: Java, Python, or NodeJs
• At least 4 years of experience in Cloud Native technologies (Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform)

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications are preferred:

• Master's Degree
• 9+ years of software engineering experience
• 5+ years of experience in AWS
• 5+ years of experience architecting cloud-native applications
• Experience working with event-driven and microservice architectures
• Experience building B2B financial software products
